Great Tribulation

 
 The first half of the Tribulation is over.
 
The seven year Tribulation started the 70th week of Daniel as seen in Daniel chapter 9. Verse 27 of Daniel is where the 70th week is found. The middle of this week is the middle of the Tribulation called the “Great Tribulation”. 
 
The word “week” as seen in the English Bible is the Hebrew word ewbs which means (seven, period of seven).

Chapter 6 through chapter 12 are in the first half of the 70th week of Daniel. 

This is now the middle of the 70th week of Daniel, the middle of the Tribulation

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

If the 7 Thunders of Revelation chapter 10 are Judgments, then the world has suffered 21 judgments in a very short time. If the 7 Thunders are not judgments, then the Earth has suffered 14 judgments and half of the people of the world has died. This is called “the begenning of sorrows”, now “great tribulation comes to Earth.

Matthew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Measuring rod

Measuring rods or reeds are mentioned many times in the Bible.

A measuring rod and line are seen in a vision of the Lord in Ezekiel 40:2-3:In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose south side were some buildings that looked like a city. He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze; he was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand.

The Tablet of Shamash recovered from the ancient Babylonian city of Sippar and dated to the 9th century BC shows Shamash, the Sun God awarding the measuring rod and coiled rope to newly trained surveyors.

The “measuring rod” or tally stick is common. The most elaborate depiction is found on the Ur-Nammu Stela, where the winding of the cords has been detailed by the sculptor.

The Bible is clear there will be a Temple for the Jews sdqmh tyb in Jerusalem during the Tribulation.
 
At the Temple there will be sacrifices: Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, …
 
The Temple and Holy of Holies are mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
 

Where will the Temple be built?

 
It has to be on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. This is the place Abraham offered Isaac his son to the Lord. The mountain is located on the northern most part of the Old City of David. It was the only area of the City of David that was protected by a steep valley.

The Jewish Temple will probably be built in within the perimeter of the numbers 1 through 5 on this photograph of the Temple area.
 
That is the Temple John was told to measure. He was told to leave out and not measure the courtyard around the Temple because that space has been given to the gentiles for the remainder of the “Times of the Gentiles” which will end at the close of the 70th week of Daniel.

A very important question needs to be asked in relation to the Tribulation:
 
The Times of the Gentiles began 586 BC and will end when the Time of Jacob's Trouble, The Tribulation is over.

The “Times of the Gentiles” began when Israel lost control of the city of Jerusalem to Babylon and will end when The Messiah regains control of the city at the end of the Tribulation.

The two Witnesses prophesy 1260 days, that is three and a half years.

 
They start their witness at the beginning of the Tribulation and are killed now, at the middle of the Tribulation.

Who are these two witnesses.
No one knows except God. We may speculate, but the answer could be right or wrong.

The explanation of redemption through the seed of the woman, the seed of Abraham is shown as the prophecy of Genesis 3:14-15 took place. The Children of Israel fleeing into the wilderness will last from the Abomination of Desolation to the return of The Messiah the Lord Jesus.
 
Some Bible Prophecy teachers say the Jewish people will flee to Petra. They might, but I think they will probably flee back to the Mountain of God where 3,500 years ago God gave them his Word. There He gave them water to drink and manna to eat. God is preparing them to accept His Only Begotten Son, Jesus who is The Messiah and redeemed us unto Himself.

The Word of God gives us examples where there is a Spiritual warfare of which we can not see.

The Bible says the Devil is like a roaring lion, a ferocious dragon, an angel of light. When he comes to Earth, he will kill as many as this powerful fallen angel can. He will no longer be restrained.

There is no Biblical evidence that Satan has ever been to the Bottomless Pit. He will go there for 1,000 years at the end of the Tribulation only to be let out to deceive the Earth once again. He will be very successful at that and will gather a great multitude. Shortly there after he will be sent to the Lake of fire.

There is something coming upon the Earth that is more horrific than any writer could write or director could produce in a movie. It is the “Great Lie” that will trap men’s souls for all eternity. It is something that brings the wrath of God upon all the Earth.

Most of the information concerning the Abomination of Desolation concern only those living in the Tribulation period. Specifically those living in the last half of the Tribulation.

All “born again believers” will have been rapture, “taken up to meet the Lord in the air” prior to the start of the Tribulation. If you are still here at that time it is very important that you understand what the Abomination of Desolation is.

Israel will start sacrificing again at the Temple Mount in what is called the Tribulation Temple.

The most horrific time in the “Day of the Lord” 
is when the Antichrist enters the Temple

The Mark of the Beast

The the son of perdition, also called the beast in Revelation 13 will demand all to worship him and cause them to receive “his mark”.

In Revelation chapter 7 God set a seal on 144,000 of His special servants. Revelation 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Exactly what is the "mark of the beast"?

There are six questions that help us understand what the “mark of the Beast” is.  This is important because as we draw closer to the “Great Day of the Lord” more and more is said about the “Mark of the Beast”.

1. Who? Only the unsaved can take the Mark of the Beast. It is impossible for a “Born Again” person to take the Mark of the Beast because Revelation 14:9-11 says the person who takes the Mark of the Beast MUST go to hell. No “Born Again” person can go to hell. 

2. What? It is “the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name in their right hand, or in their foreheads”. It is not a union card, SSI check, or license tags in Israel. It is not a computer chip placed under your skin to replace your credit card.

3. Where? It starts in Jerusalem. The Mark of the Beast does not start in the US Treasury Department printing universal currency. 

4. When? After the Abomination of Desolation Nothing before the Abomination of Desolation at the middle of the Tribulation can be the mark of the Beast. Kids in the 1970s tattooing the number 666 on their foreheads were not taking the Mark of the Beast. Certainly they were being disrespectful to God, but their tattoo met none of the criteria according to the Scripture.

5. Why? Those taking the Mark of the Beast are agreeing that the Beast is God. They need this mark so they can buy and sell, most likely to stay alive.

6. How? It is taken voluntarily. We have all seen drawings or movies where Christians were bound and forced to have their forehead branded with the mark of the Beast. Jesus said the following words: John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

Many years ago some Christians were worried they had taken the “Mark of the Beast” because they were not able to work without a union card. Some refused to buy things at stores when they were told all universal bar codes contained the numbers 666. The Euro was declared to endorse the kingdom of the Beast. In the 21st. century we hear the Mark of the Beast is a small computer chip placed under the skin on your hand.

I have heard some preaches say “You might have to refuse the “Mark of the Beast” as if it could be offered tomorrow.

I heard one preacher from Omaha, Nebraska say the following in his sermon. “If you are on Social Security  go home and look at your Social Security checks. In the check numbers are the numbers 666. You must refuse the mark of the beast.” I imagine this scared many of the elderly who heard his say that.

Certainly there is a stern warning in the middle of the Tribulation, after the Abomination of Desolation has taken place, to NOT receive the Mark of the Beast. Revelation 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

When the “son of perdition” the Beast, sits on the Ark of the Covenant in the Temple Holy of Holies and says he is God; the Jewish people that have believed he was the Messiah will realize they had been deceived. The Beast who is the son of perdition has always hated the Jews will start slaughtering all he can find. The Scripture says to the Jews, flee!

The Jewish people have had several false Messiahs. Now they have been deceived by another, the Antichrist. 

In the world today we have only two types of people, saved (born again) and unsaved (dead in trespasses and sins).  After the Abomination of Desolation a third classification is introduced. There will be those who have accepted Jesus as Savior, those who have not accepted Jesus as savior, and those who have taken the Mark of the Beast.

It is that third classification that can not get saved.

Those who are Christians will probably be killed, in fact God says you are blessed if you die now. Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Everyone has had the opportunity to accept Jesus as their Savior until the second of death. The only time a person may no longer accept Jesus as Savior before they die is if they have taken the mark of the Beast.After they do that, salvation is no longer offered to them. Their fate is sealed before death.
